Who's the biggest polluter?

Site: http://www.boston.com/globe/nation/packages/pollution/day1.htm

If you were asked this question, what would be your guess? Dow Chemical? General Electric? Maybe Exxon? All are good guesses, but wrong. Believe it or not, the correct answer is--the United States government. Yes, that's right: according to this four-part series by the Boston Globe, the U.S. government is the worst polluter of all. In what I think is a pretty decent and fascinating piece of journalism, you'll learn how the federal government, while pretending to be the environment's big protector, is in fact doing more harm than all of the private organizations it attempts to regulate. Of course, for me this once again demonstrates that big government is seldom the solution to any problem.
