Top » Self-Help & PsychologyThe MER-KA-BA MeditationSite: http://www.spiritweb.org/Spirit/merkaba-meditation.htmlThe effectiveness of meditation has been proven time and time again. However, just because something is called meditation does not mean it is good. There are many kinds of meditation. This one is interesting in that it is very involved. It is composed of eighteen breaths, and each has very detailed instructions. Each breath is explained in terms of mind, body, breath and heart. That is, what you should think or imagine, what your body position should be, how you should breathe, and what emotions you should experience.(Although the emotion is usually love). The meditation described here is somewhat advanced. The meditator progresses through the breaths until he or she reaches the 18th breath. The full attainment of this breath takes a lot of practice. The meditator gets better and better as he or she practices this complicated meditation. There are certain obvious mental advantages to going through a ritual with definite involvement of all aspects of the self. At least, if you are doing the meditation correctly, then there is no room in your mind (or heart, body, breath) for entertaining negative thoughts. Tue, 16 Nov 1999 13:35:03 -0800
