SANTE ON STRAND

Luc Sante, one of the most prominent photography critics working today, posted this article on Slate about the great American photographer Paul Strand. Sante pegs his discussion to a show and book from a few years back, "Paul Strand: Circa 1916," highlighting "the couple of years in his youth [when] Strand was a radical modernist." Sounds pretty heavy, right? Don't be put off; Sante's essay isn't long, and he doesn't assume you're already a Strand expert.
