THE ELECTRONIC FRONT PORCH

Site: http://www.myhistory.org

Remember sitting on the porch, fanning away the insects while Grandma rambled on about crazy Uncle Abner? Well, now you can hear historical tales of families around the U.S.--and avoid those pesky mosquitoes-- with "My History Is America's History," a National Endowment for the Humanities project to encourage the recording and sharing of family memories to provide insight into the U.S.'s past. You can exchange stories, track down family members' e-mail addresses, create a family tree, get advice on preserving family photos and letters, and learn more about American history. If your kids don't want to hear any more about the time you accidentally used poison ivy when the toilet paper ran out during a camping trip, then settle down around the computer for somebody else's family dramas.
