It’s hard to imagine a world without social media. Almost all of our communication is digitized and electronic nowadays, making social media a crutch of sorts for us. The number-one spot was initially a toss-up between Facebook and Twitter, but I chose Twitter because of how important it has become in the world of news. Almost every millennial gets their news from Twitter. The site has also become the go-to for celebrities and politicians (looking at you, Donald Trump) to express their viewpoints. Twitter puts people in contact with celebrities and people they may not know in person. For that, it deserves to be number one.
