Musical theatre is the genre to go to if you want to experience the fullness of the human experience. Broadway songs perfectly capture every emotion ever felt by humankind. 12“Finale” from Les Miserables
The Story: After a life of hardship, Jean Valjean passes away as his his daughter and her new husband watch on. Later, all of those who died throughout the show come back to sing about how death has freed them all from their pain.
Saddest Line: “They will live again in freedom in the garden of the Lord / They will walk behind the plowshare, they will put away the sword”
