Flossing is crucial to keeping your gums healthy, and unhealthy gums can lead to gum recession and even tooth loss. Gums get stronger the more you floss them, so don’t let that giant pool of blood forming in your mouth deter you. Once you start flossing regularly (and make sure you do all sides of your teeth in an up-and-down motion when you do) you’ll realize that it becomes less painful each time.
