BBC has reported that the Senate voted to make their national anthem gender-neutral.

The Canadian Senate has approved the motion to change “in all thy sons command” to “in all of us command” in the anthem. This is the 12th time a bill has been introduced to change the lyric since 1980. However, it has not been successful in the Senate until now.

Among the supporters of changing the song were Margaret Atwood, author of The Handmaid’s Tale. Though many groups criticized the decision to change the lyric, gender equality supporters are surely pleased.
