Prison inmates will be able to use tablets to complain against abusive officers.
JPay, a Florida-based company, will be distributing these tablets to inmates all over New York. The tablets will also contain shopping features and educational tools. JPay will also save inmates’ families over $1 million per year by becoming the new prison phone provider.
Inmates will be able to stay close with their families as well, due to a feature allowing them to keep in touch.
“[It’s] a potential game-changer,” an inmate advocate claims about the device.
