Paramount Network announced that they will be pushing back the planned release for their TV series reboot of the cult-classic, Heathers. Paramount made this decision in light of the Parkland shootings that took place on February 14th.
In a statement in regard to the delay, Paramount states: “While we stand firmly behind the show, in light of the recent tragic events in Florida and out of respect for the victims, their families and loved ones, we feel the right thing to do is delay the premiere until later this year.”
The show is based off of the 1988 film, Heathers, starring Winona Ryder (Veronica Sawyer) and Christian Slater (J.D). However, in this spin-off, the usual “cheerleader type” popular girls will be played by a cast of diverse body-type, race, and sexual orientation.
The show was supposed to launch on March 7th, but has yet to pick a new date to release the series.
