The Hartford Courant reported that one Windsor cop has donated her kidney to another.

Sue Bowman and Eduardo Cosme have been friends ever since they both started as Windsor police officers. So, when Cosme left work due to two polycystic kidneys, Bowman didn’t think twice before checking if she was a match to donate.

Cosme initially was not too optimistic. He had accepted that he would have fewer remaining years. However, on December 11th, Bowman received the news that she was a suitable donor. Cosme, who has a wife and a 9-year-old child, says he was ecstatic.

On January 16th of this year, the surgery took place, and Cosme received Bowman’s kidney. Bowman returned to work, but at a lighter pace, in late February. However, Cosme will likely not return to work until the summer.

If the kindness these officers exhibited to one another wasn’t powerful enough already, their fellow employees have donated their time in exchange for Cosme and Bowman to received proper sick day income.
