The Arctic Snowy Owl has been made famous through the magical series, Harry Potter. On March 12th, Harry Potter fans and bird watchers alike flocked to Scott Head Island to catch a glimpse of the very rare bird.
There have only been 430 recording sightings of the Arctic Snowy Owl in Britain and Ireland from the late 19th Century to now. Furthermore, there has only been one recorded sighting of the bird in Norfolk in the past 70+ years.
In Harry Potter, Harry’s owl, Hedwig, is friendly and fiercely loyal. However, in reality the bird are “reclusive: and “unused to human contact” reports a RSPB Wildlife Charity spokesman.
