The 77-year old Beatles drummer was knighted on Tuesday, March 20th, by Prince William. He even used his real name, Richard Starkey for the event.

Ringo is not the first Beatle to be knighted, though. Paul McCartney received the honor over twenty years ago: “I had dinner with him last week and we were both actually laughing about where we came from, and we’ve ended up in the palace and it’s now Sir Paul and Sir Richard”.

Furthermore, his knighting comes half a century from when the Beatles first arrived at Buckingham Palace to receive their Most Excellent Order of the British Empire award (MBE).
