Cynthia Nixon is best known for her role as Miranda Hobbes, the hard-working lawyer, from HBO’s wildly popular Sex and the City. However, she’s about to take the city by storm in a new way – Nixon is running for governor in New York.  She will be taking on two-term incumbent Andrew Cuomo for the position.
Rumors have been circulating about her candidacy for months, but she made the *official* announcement on Monday when she tweeted her campaign ad.

While Nixon does not have any previous experience in public office, she has been an activist and advocate for LGBTQA rights as well as education reform. However, her main platform is addressing New York City’s highly frustrating subway system.
If elected, Nixon would be the first female governor, as well as the second openly bisexual governor in any state.
You go, Miranda Hobbes!
