Waitress given $16K scholarship for viral act of kindness

Evoni Williams, a waitress in a Waffle House near Houston has received a $16,000 scholarship from Texas Southern University for her kind act.

Williams was working a shift when she noticed one of her elderly customers was having trouble with his food. His hands were shaking and he could not cut the ham he had ordered. Even though the restaurant was extremely busy, Williams went to the man and began cutting up his food for him.

Another customer in the restaurant, Laura Wolf, snapped a picture of the interaction and posted it on Facebook. The post went viral and received over 86,000 likes and 73,000 shares.

TSU caught wind of the waitress’s kindness and offered her a $16,000 scholarship. Williams hopes to enroll and study business.
