On March 5th, the popular dating application, Bumble, announced they will ban photos of guns in their user’s profile pictures. Bumble founder, Whitney Wolfe, stated in a comment to the New York Times: “We just want to create a community where people feel at ease, where they do not feel threatened, and we just don’t see guns fitting into that equation”.
Bumble allows users to create personal profiles that others can swipe left (rejecting a connection) or right (requesting a connection) on. Profiles include photos and a short biography. The new ban will delete any photos of guns found in user’s profiles.
Furthermore, Bumble has also donated $100,000 to March For Life. March for Life is an initiative created in the wake of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shootings.
