Tim Hwang has created a company called FiscalNote, which pulls data from 1.5 million active bills through congress in order to predict the likelihood of a bill passing. Getting a bill passed is a very lengthy, and often disappointing and grueling process.
FiscalNote hopes to keep the public in the loop about each step of the way in turning a bill into law. FiscalNote does not rely on humans to predict the outcome of a bill, but instead use a self-learning A.I to read through the bills and find keywords that influence it’s chances of success. The company is now trying to shift its focus from predictions and apply their methods to the next step in legislation, how the law will be carried out.
